Mobile first, responsive web design for Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards
I recently worked on a really fun website project with my team at Able Sense. We made the new Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards website – a Nova Scotia winery set to open to the public in 2016. It is not very often that we get to start building an online presence two years before a commercial opening, and this opened up a lot of opportunities for doing things right.
Some of the techniques we used during the website’s development were:
- Logo animation SVG (with animations)
- HTML5 audio
- CSS animations
- Parallax
- Google Analytics event tracking
- Mobile first, responsive web design
- Single page design (just for the first phase)
- Web fonts
The Lightfoot’s use biodynamic practices in their vineyard, and grow classic vinifera grape varietals. This brings a historic aspect to their brand, even though they are a new producer. We really tried to balance history, craftsmanship, and modern web standards together in this project. I’m really excited to evolve this website over the next two years, and will post more about how we handle new types of content, design and development along the way. Cheers!
