Notre Dame and Eiffel Tower
The Paris Metro is amazing, you can get anywhere fast. For such a big city with so much to see, it is really accessible by foot between Metro stops.
Somebody is growing grapes in the middle of Paris. Makes my three vines in the yard at home seem like a poor effort.
The view of the Eiffel Tower from across the river is pretty good.
Notre Dame, quite overrun with tourists, but we went inside and saw lots of stained glass and the tombs of many long dead people. Quite impressive, but the Wikipedia page is probably where you want to get your details… we were in a hurry and on our way to dinner.
Inside the cathedral, the beautiful stone work, columns, and stained glass is amazing.
We had dinner at Chartier, a recommendation of the Lonely Planet and the best place we have eaten so far. Too bad it is closed for the next two months… Foie gras, escargots and beouf provencale!
Regarding some of the typos in recent posts — French keyboards are totally messed up! Requiring shift to make a period, honestly!
Stay tuned for Versailles (yes we stood in line for the palace) and the Louvre.
